LED street lamps to brighten up the night in Southampton

  The new plan of a stock of LED street lamps will be mounted in Southampton Town. Officials in the town’s Parks Department announced that they are cooperating with State Power Authority to replace all of the streetlights in the town to LED street lamps.

  The lifespan of the new LED street lamps is twice that of the traditional high pressure sodium lights, which are the most products lit currently. Also, these lights will deliver higher energy-saving efficiency up to 80%. Different from traditional high pressure sodium lamp containing a great deal mercury vapor, which will release to the environment if broken, these LED street lamps are free from the these harmful substance. It is environment-friendly and green. These LED street lamps transfer all electricity into optical energy with less heat, which cut the energy waste. High color rendering ensure more authentic color performance.

  The town went into an agreement with the authority in September and is currently in a design phase—though a few LED lights have been installed already. Ms. Doulos explained that throughout the past two years when light posts were destroyed in accidents on the road, the town replaced them with LED lights.

  Although it is possible for authorities to cost great money on these new LED street lamps in its early stages, while in the long run these will save considerable electricity bills and maintenance costs.
