36 thousand LED Chinese street lamps replacement project have finished in Jiaxing
Starting from 2016, the LED Chinese street light replacement plan authorized by local authority of Jiaxing city in Zhejiang province has been finished recently. This plan covers about 360 thousand LED lamps, about 98% amount of all existing street lamps. It is estimated that about 14 million kilowatts electricity will be cutting off.
New LEDs emit brighter white glow instead of previous yellow orange glow from traditional high pressure sodium lamps, which provide better visibility for pedestrians and busy traffic. These Chinese street lamps equipped energy controlling system, which could dim the brightness at idle time such as nighttime.
The past lighting system is powered by a great deal of high pressure sodium lamps, which efficacy is about 250W. With long time service time, lighting decay is severer than is imagined. While, new LEDs feature a half efficacy than HPS lamps with energy saving up to more than 60%. With remote controlling system, it could control the brightness of these lamps in office without going out to adjust them in person
Mr. Zhang, a spokesperson from local lighting system bureau said, “In the nighttime, vehicles and pedestrians are greatly fewer than in daytime. The only way to save energy is to brighten up the lamps in interval way. Currently with the remote controlling system, it can achieve similar effect by another way of adjusting the power to dim the brightness.
The whole LED Chinese street lamps installment plan is estimated to finish prior to this Spring Festival to provide enough safety for busy traffic and visibility for pedestrians. It is estimated that about 140 million kilowatts will be cutting off for a year after all installation finished. And the return of investment will be in 3 to 4 years.
