Up to 1.4m Euros LED street light upgrading plan is on the way
Gwynedd Council recently made out a plan to convert 7,778 street lights to LED street light at a cost of 1,398,795 Euros prior to March 2022. This move is looking to achieve green energy and to save more than 200,000 Euros every year.
So far approximately 10,279 of total 18,057 street lights are on the way to be replaced with LED street lights, which will be completed by September 2018. This project will be funded by the Welsh Government Green Growth committee, valuing about 1.4 million Euros which will be repaid for free interests in a period of seven and a half years.
According to the plan, the 10,279 lights replacement will be finished by September. And this move will be estimated to reduce carbon emission around 414 tons CO², cut light pollution and save energy costs over 260,000 Euros every year.
The director of this project expressed that he is eager to convert the remainder of the street lights with LED street light. He also pointed out these LED street lights used on our main highways, in town centres and at busy road junctions. And LED is more readily available and at more affordable prices to enable these larger lighting units to be converted to the technology.
After this project finished eventually, not only the street will be brighter than previously but can apparently reduce energy cost and light pollution. Also, LED street light lasts longer than traditional lights. They bring real convenience to local residents.
