Streetlights served by street light suppliers in Lindsay to convert to LED

It is on the way for all of the streetlights in the city of Lindsay to convert to higher energy-efficient LED served by street light suppliers. This move is acted as the newest agreement executed by City manager authorized by the Lindsay City council to convert all of the city’s streetlights to LED.

Presently approximately 574 street lights are burning in the network of Lindsay. And current lamps watts range from 70 watt to 250 watt with the majority at 70 watts (434) and 150watt (102). All of them consume a great deal of electricity on the yearly energy bills. And when finishing all the streetlights replacement plan with higher energy-efficient LED lamps served by street light suppliers. At the same time of providing same lighting effect, about considerable energy bills will be cut accordingly.

A spokesperson pointed out that local authority has seized the opportunity to upgrade this streetlights network from high pressure sodium to LED street lights. Introduced around in 1970, he said, high pressure sodium lights were a popular street lighting solution for its brilliant effect then. However, when compared to current improved new energy technology, HPS products are surely at a disadvantage for its numerous deficiencies.

HPS lamps emit yellow light while LED emits white bright light and limit visibility and lumen depreciation. Different from traditional high pressure sodium lamp containing a great deal mercury vapor, which will release to the environment if broken, LED street light is free from the previous substance. It is environment-friendly and green. LED transfers all electricity into optical energy along with less heat, which cut the energy waste. High color rendering ensure more authentic color performance. Also, LED lasts longer than HPS products for about 10 years.

This replacement plan served by street light suppliers will take into effect in 2019. It is estimated that this move will deliver more and more convenience to public and residents.
