Chicago has replaced 18,000 lamps supported by LED street light suppliers with LEDs

   Chicago has used smart lighting in a bid to gain better control around energy usage and cost efficiency. Recently, it has reached a new milestone in its plan to replace all its street lights with more energy-efficient LED street lights supported by LED street light suppliers.

   The plan is to assemble the LED lights that will replace existing high pressure sodium lamps. And so far all of the 18,000 light under the support of LED street light suppliers has been mounted as plan.

   The chief of this plan considered, “it is good for the environment and our energy-use, saves dollars, and makes our residential streets all that much safer.” Not only the city millions costs will be saved, but will alter the way the streets look at the nighttime.

   Instead of the high pressure sodium lamps that emits the yellow-orange glow, new LED street lights emits the rather white glow that will apparently improve the visibility at night to ensure the safety for pedestrians and drivers.

   Different from traditional high pressure sodium lamp containing a great deal mercury vapor, which will release to the environment if broken, LEDs supported by LED street light suppliers are free from the previous substance. It is environment-friendly and green. LED transfers all electricity into optical energy along with less heat, which cut the energy waste. High color rendering ensure more authentic color performance. Also, LED lasts longer than HPS products for about 10 years.
