Patna rolls out LED street light conversion plan
To address the problem of excessive energy consumption and enable street lights to last longer, local energy management department of Patna rolls out plan to convert traditional high pressure sodium lamps with higher energy-efficient LED street lights on Friday evening.
The estimated number of 50,000 LED street lights will be installed in 75 wards, devided into Bankipore, Pataliputra, Patna city and New capital circles. It will take approximately three months to finish this work. Local energy efficiency service department is in charge of the execution of this project under supervision of local Municipal Corporation. It is estimated that this project will cost Rs 45 crore.
This work will expand in 14 other wards whose councilors have submitted survey reports giving details of the exact number of LED bulbs required in their respective areas.
The detailed spots have been marked by local councilors to pave the way for where the electric poles need to be installed for proper lighting. Others will conduct the survey in their wards from May 10 and submit the report in a week and two.
These lights will emit comfortable light and have a longer lifespan. The electricity bills of this city will be cut considerably accordingly.This is the global trend to convert to LED street lights.
