Northumberland County and street light suppliers reaches the final phase in LED street light replacement plan
Northumberland County Council and street light suppliers kicked off a three-year project to replace more than 40,000 street lights with more energy-efficient LED street lights. And this project will be completed by next summer.
According to the local authority, this project is stepping into the last few months of a three-year project to switch all of the Northumberland’s street lights with more energy-efficient LED street lights served by street light suppliers, among which covering 16,000 lamps that are going into their end of their life.
The traditional street lights are equivalent of a great many electricity bills to local authority. Furthermore, the shortly lasting time means huge maintenance cost in lighting costs.
There has been about 32,000 new lamps being installed so far. These lights improve both driver and pedestrian safety and delivering good levels of energy savings.
The new white LED street lights served by street light suppliers instead of traditional orange lamps will deliver higher efficacy as a superior way to save money on energy and repairs bills to local authority. The more efficient LED street lamps being mounted can cut energy cost by about 64% compared to what are replaced. And it is estimated that it will save more than $1.3 million through the year a year.
