LED street lamp pollution climbs rapidly on a global scale
There is an alarming increase in light pollution across the globe as a result of the flow of light in the night, according to the recent research. Actually, this trend grows with the development of the economy and the technological advancement from the LED street lights manufacturers. Meanwhile, the global trend of switching to the energy-saving LED Street light showed no help of apparent decline in light pollution. Instead, the increasing of LED lamps contributes to this severity of the light pollution.
A team of scientists found a 2.2% increase in the global outdoor artificial lighting each year between 2012 and 2016 in developed countries including the US, UK and Germany, etc. They also noted a consistent growth in lighting in South America, Africa and Asia. All of these situation increase greatly to the light pollution.
The risks for lighting pollution harm greatly to this world. First, white LED light has been linked to impairment of the sleep quality, and the excessive glare is found to affect human eyesight. Additionally, radiance and color temperature in the LED street lamps is also harmful to human health. Also, women living in the places close to the LED street lamps have an increased risk of breast cancer. Last, the impact of the LED street lamps was especially adverse in the bird to alter their behavior in terms of migration, foraging and vocal communication.
Thus, a very important problem needing to be addressed for LED street lights manufacturers is how to balance the lighting requirement and light pollution, particularly in the LED street lamps.
